Pins and Brooches: On my pages pins are distinquished from brooches by my construction methods and size. My pins are often built upon hardwood bases to give them a light weight for their size and to allow me to carve settings for stones. The pins mostly evolve around a bit of an image collaged to the base.
My brooches are generally much heavier than the pins. They are constructed on metal bases, often brass of various vintages and patinas. The rich patina of old pieces is enhanced and preserved with lacquer, new pieces of brass, often struck from vintage dies, are treated to a staining process involving multiple thin glazes protected by lacquer. Or they are painted with heat set enamels that vitrify in the baking process and become as permanent as glass enameling. I do many items in related series and although I will not duplicate pieces I may be able to do a similar brooch for you. New pieces are listed as they are created. Thank you for looking and check back often. My contact information for questions or purchase will be found at the bottom of each page.
